So I built a 01 srx 2 x 159 with 8 tooth drivers. I'll throw some pics in for fun. Anyone out there clutched one of these that could point me in the right direction on helix/spring/gears? It would save me alot of trail time in testing if someone had a setup to start with.

made everything out back extra strong as this sled was built for someone to use trapping. he will have a box on back some and a hitch to tow a sleigh.

I've always set my stretched srx's at about a 2/1 ratio and let the drivers gear it down the rest of the way. Clutching either dn20's or heel clickers with a 45 or 47 helix with the Yamaha weights and a multi angle with the clickers. Always worked good here in the flats of MN

right now Im running 54/44 dalton with red spring and 8dn10 weights. I thought I would find the secondary spring and helix a little to steep and a little too soft for the new load.

what secondary spring you run with the straight helix? Im at sea level so I don't think the 7000 ft clutching will do much.

On the bars. I made these bars years ago and they are the best angle of bar and turned forward that I have made. They were perfect for the stock height seat but now that the flat top boss is on the sled, they are too low. we will be increasing height and putting apex style bars on, I have a few sets. Need to get good cables first. I have used rsi and some other companies long cables before but they suck. pull hard and fall apart easy if tugged on for the oiler. I have bought two different sets of supossed yamaha mountain viper cables from ty sellers, but, like many sellers, they do not know what they have when they sell it. We will wait and buy new ones later.

The Rx1 gauge may end up on the bars when that is done as seeing the gauge becomes a problem with tall bars.

There is an aluminum track that will be attached to the sides of the extension as well to allow easy attachment of wracks and boxes.

thanks for the help and any more questions you can answer.

Sorry to go off topic here, I like the RX-1 gauge. Can that be put on a M Max? Instructions? Viper gauge work? Thanks.

if you search my posts I show how.
cliff notes
single pulse tach will work on any tripple with dual bulb ignition.
viper/vector/rx1 gauges all, though are wired differently.
you need to bypass the gauges temp sensor as the sled does this in the cdi. you can use an old temp sensor or just look in the book for the correct resistor size and run that wire through the resistor to ground. all other inputs work the same, oil, gas and warning light flashes from cdi

you need to attach a rotor to your drive shaft, or use a viper shaft
wire a ground and power to the pickup and gauge.
wire harness will work from viper or rx1, they use the same plug but are wired differently so get a diagram from your sled and the sled your gauge and harness are from.

for the pod, we use lexan(i own a glass shop) and cut to fit the dash shape plus the shape of the gauge up high to protect in a rollover. help with higher bars as well. Then just paint with satin paint and it blends in nice. even leaves room for other gauges or what have you.

have run these for years on a few sleds including my own. No issues. Nice to have an accurate tach if your clutching and an accurate to itself speedo you can tell if you have gained a mile per hour with a mod.

it is possible to put this on an older igition, but your going to need and electrical engineer to come up with something to convert the 6 or 4 pulses to a single

ask rock over on the 4 stroke side, he might be able to make something. He is the guy behind the yamaheater and a few other electrical items

when we got it done, there was low snow condtions so we really never got to snow test it. Trail riding only. Sled handles and rides great. I took it out with my daughter and stuck the slides in the first mile. hasn't happened since. I was going slow alot with her trying to get out of town. Again, low snow conditions, warm day.

amazed how low the sled feels to my apex. we left the front end narrow, 40in. It just fits in the truck with the wider skis so no wide kit for this one. This winter he should get to do some trapping with it. from memory, we used a set of stock weights and gears with 8tooth and a silver/blue poo secondary. foreget what helix. it was a warm day so no real finished clutching was done. too nice to waste a day tuning. got it close and rode.

Betheviper did you ever figure out weights *& springs on your 159' long track SRX? ???
I've done the same, but run a 05 Vector 151" skid -8T drivers 23-39 gearing 1.91 ratio
My weights at present /8DN-10 with 4.5 inside & on tip. / now but 8DN-20 just arrived!
Have reverse also
primary spring blue green blue.
secondary spring silver.
Sled pulls hard / skis in the air at the flick of my thumb. But afraid of over Rev so always looking down at tac ( not safe).
Any of you clutching experts have any suggestions???? / sure would be appreciated!
