2003 Mountain Max 700 Temp Sensor/Light question

I recently replaced coolant sensor in the head due to wire being broken off, After replacing sensor and removing rear heat ex-changer to do some repairs, after bleeding the system and installing the new sensor the coolant temp light in the dash still blinks but only while driving, doesn't blink when idling, I don't think she is over heating , still idling and running fine, Is there any other issues that can cause this? I noticed the wires going to the sensor are a little worn looking, any help on how to test all this would be appreciated

The temp light is tied to the oil level sensor as well. Check it's level and the wiring to it as well.

What pattern is it blinking? The overheat light will flash different patterns as part of the diagnostic program in the CDI. A quick flashing red is overheat and different patterns of slow flash are different faults. I had one that fought me for 2 seasons it was a thumb warmer that was on all the time because the rheostat was shorted. The problem with that one was that it's code was very similar to the 3 blink self check code at start up.

Faults have a priority protocol so an overheat is always priority and a disconnected/failed temp sensor is second. Higher priority codes will be the fault that flashes.

Àlmost every time that light blinks the throttle çable is to tight. Or try turning your grip wàrmers off.

Unplug the rheostats under the left dash panel to start. I have never seen anything in either an owners manual or Yamaha factory service manual that lists a trouble code to tors....
