Do you have the tunnel protectors in? This should prevent this

The rear protectors are an oddball, only fit 96 XT 500/600 and 97 Vmax 4.
My nephew needed a set about 4 years ago and it was a hard find back then. Be careful on ebay, as sellers will try to tell you they have them.
Standard suspension setup, wifes sled:
Correct XT setup, Mine:
Someone on the web installed the wrong standard suspension protectors on an XT:
Hope they worked for him?

I understand the proper fitting parts make for an easier installation, but can you modify the "wrong" ones easily to fit?
The reason I ask is that I installed tunnel and front heat exchanger protectors on my Venture. When I ordered them, I didn't know what they looked like, and was surprised on how simple they were. The tunnel protectors were simple plastic strips and heat exchanger protectors were simple pieces of square metal, with mounting ears. Both are held in place by rivets. Neither were expensive, but both could have been easily fabbed at home.

As you can see in the pictures I posted these 2 sets of protectors are fairly different in shape because the XT rear cooler has a curved shape, the standard suspension sleds coolers are flatter.
I'm not saying you couldn't make them work?

That's what I thought. All the protection I've added is something that keeps the track from getting closer than about an 1" to the heat exchanger or tunnels. When I installed mine, they were relatively simple, but also a PITA, working on my back upside down.

These rear protections are the easiest ones I've ever installed.

Yes, thinking of making some drop brackets
I didn't know such a thing existed? I'm trying to figure out how they work from that pic? Not seeing it.

I have updated my post, #3 to answer your question better.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Thanks. You have a lot more going on inside your tunnel than my Venture.I have updated my post, #3 to answer your question better.

If a stud works loose its going to puncture the rad !! Already been there and tore all mine out because of it. I gather you're running too long studs as well.
Shorter studs,,,, increase track tension...................that skid is not made for 15' jumps..............
