I'm interested in buying this 2004 SX Venom with 6,400 miles on it. It has a new track that is studded down the middle. Electric start and reverse. No tears in the seat. The bad, it has a couple pinholes in the silencer, the other pipe is out of a wrecked sled and has a dent in it. The exhaust was spray can painted to hide the rust and looks like crap. I also noticed the carb boots are wrapped with electrical tape. The left ski is damaged on the outer edge pretty ugly but not sure if it needs to be replaced. Now the story, he bought it less than a year ago for $1800 and he will sell it to me for no less than $1200. What should I worry about here???

I'm going to roll the dice on it i guess. Im not afraid to repair it, I just dont want to buy some amatures problem. The spray painted exhaust and electrical tape on the carb boots made me raise an eyebrow. I just don't do things that way personally. I dont know who put the track on or if it is even the right track for the machine. Things like this make me loose sleep at night.

Now explain the "afu" gasket again. My imagination leades me to believe you meant the "all f$@&*! up" gasket. How long do the crank seals usually last in these things?

You got it. If the tape is just wrapped around the cylinder/reed/carb boot mating surface, it's probably a gasket. If it's just on the rubber portion, then you'll need to replace with genuine Mikuni/oem parts. NEVER EVER EVER NEVER get an aftermarket carb boot. They are sh!t and will help you burn the sled down sooner-than-later.

Together again after more than 10 years! The Viper gets its Venom back! A good pair that I will keep for a long time. The new Venom for $1200 actually makes my Viper look like crap! My Viper looks pink now ffs!
