chassis differences

I really like the body style of exciters/phazers and I have a rotax 670 freshly rebuilt that I wish to put in a lighter chassis (it sits in my 1993 Mach one) So I'm shopping for a body to put it in. I want to put a 144 x 15 x 1.5-2" under it.

I saw a Phazer 1 1988 really cheap with a blown engine near me. Question isL are there major differences between phazers 1/2 /exciters ? I'm aware that the phazer is a air cooled and I will have to add a cooler but it is not that big of an issue. And I know the first phazers have a narrower stance, witch suits me because I want to make a kind of boondocker with it

Not sure if there are any major differences. But a 670 in a phazer would be pretty cool 😎 sounds like a build I would definitely follow.
I seen a phazer on Craigslist a few months back that had a 583 motor in it but the guy never finished it. So it can be done just takes some doing.
Hope you decide to do the build.

The exciter chassis would be easier since the front, rear, and tunnel coolers are already there. they arent much wider than a Phazer I and are plenty narrow...almost too narrow as is any way.Plus, the Exciter has a 121 skid which would be easier to extend if you went that route. You'll have to drop the chain case or go to smaller driver (or both)for anything over a 1.5 lug.

So I got this new to me Exciter to start with. I only wanted a chassis but the price was good and I will be able to sell parts I remove from it

And here it is beside the engine donnor:

I will get them in the garage this week to begin the engine swap. Then, later I plan on putting a 144 skid and track with 1.75-2" lugs, the bigger I can get with 7 tooth drivers. probably rise the handlebar some and use it to play in the snow

Nice looking exciter and at least you of the mach1 chassis to get any measurements you need.
Should be a nice sleeper. My dad had a mach1 a few years ago and that thing ripped and made some good power especially with twin pipes it was loud.

played a bit with height and angle , I think I might be able to get away with, will have to mod the steering column for sure, but it should fit :

I'm thinking about using the same belt as the mach one, so for starter keep the same distance between clutches. Remember I am still in mock up stage, engine position is not final, If I can move the engine forward in the engine bay it will help with carburetor clearance

little bit of modification on the steering:

Now I will finalise welding on all the mounts and brackets and go on to the cooling

I now have a dilemna, the 670 has two coolant outlets, one with the thermostat and one without a thermostat, like if it runs on closed loop until the thermostat opens. I wonder f it would be possible to run it with only the outlet with the thermostat, blocking the other.

As of now I am not really decided on witch way I should go with that

Yesterday I finished the wiring and started it for the first time, but with only the tuned pipe and no muffler, It is loud as hell, I will have to find a solution, It does not really matter if it is on the loud side but right now it is too much. And for the cooling, I run one loop without the thermostat, for now at least
