You could build your own silencer or you could modify you pipe and can.
I've seen guys take the cherry bombs off there trucks and cut them down to fit there sled and they sound pretty good to.

You crack me up Yamahamark. A cherry bomb is not a good mod to a sled that has an already decently tuned pipe. What CAN be done with the pipe is cut at different angles and twisted to make it go where you need it. You do not want to change the length at all so keep track of your cuts and compensate for the material removed by the cutting device.

I will definitly keep the tuned pipe, don't get me wrong on that and I assume that is what yamahamark implied too. I am thinking of using a short glasspack or build my own muffler using similar principle maybe even adding baffles

Yes, that's what I was implying. Not saying the cherry bomb is the best way to go but I've seen it done. Adding baffles like you are thinking would probably be the best way to go at it.
I haven't done it before with the cherry bomb. But me and my dad built a silencer out of a coffee can and I used it on my 600 for a few weeks while I was waiting for my new can to show up. (FYI the MI Dnr did not think it was funny. It cost me a pretty penny) but it was quite and passed the sound test it just wasn't " original equipment".

try and get that stock can in the sled with that motor set up the tuned length of the pipe is part of the can and making your own is not suggested unless you completely understand what you are doing different back pressure affect operating rpm and hp

at first wanted to use the stock can if possible but it is not, Not by much but it won't fit. I'm considering my options now. No hurry to decide, there is no more snow :P

the project is not dead, I dug it out of my backyard today
no I have a heck of a hard time getting it to run, I give it two shots of primer, crank it, it fires once and after that, nothing. I will take the carbs off to inspect them
