1991 Phazer 2.....want to put on and SC 10 skid. Need help!! What do I need to do???

All....I just picked up a 1991 Phazer 2 and the rear suspensions pretty beat. I have been looking into swapping out the stock skid with an Sc10. Can anyone tell me where I would find the specs and information on how to do this. I'm also not opposed to putting a newer Yamaha skid under the sled if it's easier. How do I know what track I'm gonna need and so on? I'm mechanically inclined but have never pulled the skid or track out of any sled. Any help or guidance you all could give me would be great.Thanks in advance .

^^x2 will be a lot cheaper and easier to rebuild the stock skid.
If you do a skid swap you will need the measurements from the sled it came out of.
 
Thanks for the response guys. Maybe I will just rebuild the stock setup. I don't wanna get in over my head or have a sled that handles crappy.
 
the phazers lack adjustability on the tss front. By going with another brand skid, espcecially the sc10, you wont be able to steer the sled other than body english. Not a good thing if your a flatlander riding trails.


Aftermarket shocks are readily available for the oem skid and if needed, I have several extra skids from the pz's available for parts or complete. There are a few optional yamaha skids you can use, but you will be relocating the mount points.
 
Help me out here, What is so different between Phaser's, and SRV or early V Max. Looking at either the SRV forum or Vintage V max it is fairly common to swap rear skids, alot of people do it. The most common choice is xtra 10 Pol which is almost a drop in. I have done this to both my SRV and 83 VM both with Fox shocks and experience none of the problems talked about here and consider the ride greatly improved over stock
 
Phazers are a bunch lighter than the srv, vmax etc. The xtra 10 isnt nearly the lift of an Sc doo whatever skid.
 
I'll have to check the 40th anniversary book again but I believe a Phazer II weighs in at 405, dry im assuming. According to Jon Bertolino atleast.
 
You know better then that, the only number less reliable then that wt number is the speedo LOL, Had a friends Phazer on our digital scales 480 wet but it was a long track. My SRV is 470, VM 485 all wet but mine have tje oil and air boxes gone.
I think 405 is without engine
 
I figured the Voo doo max would be more. I have been getting into my own voodoo max project and I figured the bulkhead was 200lbs alone! LOL
 
I still haven't finished the Yamaha TX all thats left is to put the track in, haven't touched it in months. Racin karts at Gateway in St Louis this weekend.
