What should I do with the DCS? Blind it? If so, how do I do that?
Can I just use a CDI from a 2001? Will the contacts fit?
 
2001 CDI plugs right in, or, you could install a separate DCS (isolated) on your sled, or, install a DPDT switch that enables you to actuate the "real" or "dummy" DCS!
 
take your dcs sensor out of coolant rail and bolt it right to your frame. right where the frame piece unbolts above your recoil with a 14 mm . screw it in and the dsc will never go off again. than your gonna have to tune your big bore by seat of the pants. 3:16x (yammie tony)
 
So I can turn off the dcs with this switch? Won't it make the dcs lose contact with the cdi, thus creating a fault code? Or.. what is it in the switch that makes the dcs act like a dummy, or fools it? Or do you mean having 2 dcs sensors and the switch at once?

What I mean is you will have 2 DCS sensors. You will maintain the original sensor in it's original position on the motor and the secound sensor you can mount on the sled (isolated) and "toggle" between the 2 sensors. Check out member "sideshowbob" SRX overview of his sled, he takes full credit for the setup, rather clever you must admit!
 
I have done bigbore and had no issue with the dcs on the 2002 srx. All comes down to the head set up and the jetting used. They must be run on good octane fuel, and if its a bigbore they need the good fuel anyways or the pistons will rattle and crack the cylinder skirts. If you don't have good 93-94 octane fuel I would NOT do a 780 big bore!
 
What do you guys use over there? MON? I can get 98 research octane. Which is 91 in MON as far as I can see. A few have run haucks 780 kits, I don't know the results though.
 
I guess you can't do anything to the heads to make it live? Pistons will still rattle?
 
pull one of the bolts out, i said 14 mm but they might be bigger, the dcs censorer will screw right into the frame. i did this to my 02 srx stocker, no issues. the big bore with dcs will drive ya nuts. tune it by piston wash and plug color. 62 on the diagram. 3:16x (yammie tony)

the wiseco pistons are harder(forged) then the cast aluminum cylinder is, and with it being bored over its quite a bit thinner on the rear skirts. When you begin to detonate the piston it will rattle at first and this will cause it to crack the rear cylinder skirts. 91 octane will not cut it unless you make the compression ratio so low that the whole benefit and expense of the larger big bore would be moot. You are better off porting your 700 topend and keep close to the stock compression ratio and the working dcs. (this is able to be done with the right mods).
I have ran dcs on 2002 srx780 kits, but it takes good fuel-(93-94 Sunoco ultra premium fuel) and correct set ups. You will leave a bit of power untapped with the dcs, as youll be a tad richer then normal to keep the frequency right and the dcs from picking up the signal. Its finicky but able to be done.
I build these 780 kits and I can tell you from a working knowledge your gonna make a big and costly mistake doing this with that low of octane fuel! I wont even sell a kit to a guy unless he has the fuel available and is a decent tuner as the 780 kit makes great power but its also finicky to fuel quality and engine set up.
 
I'll just have to jet fat and hope for the best. Fuel will never be better than 91.
 
i m have the cylinders on my 2001 srx ported and heads cut by iantomasi here in ontario. (trail port pump gas) i have heard nothing but good thinks about there work . can t wait . with the right set up. speed track . should go 120 mph +
