If I'm understanding what you're saying and showing, the OD of the larger round part on the new valve is bigger than the old one and the hole in the cylinder?
Never seen that before, you either got terribly unlucky and got the one bad one or worse they have a whole run built wrong. If thats the case it may be hard ensuring you get a good one.

Could it be a viper power valve instead. I don't believe you can use them. What did it come out of?

Viper power valve the blade is different but will still slide into the cylinder. Don't ask how I know. I'd rather not talk about it. Lol
The new valve is on the left. See the very small gap below the round shoulder of the new valve.
I put calipers on them...they both read the same, however the shoulder on the new valve is offset lower than the old valve. The shoulder is preventing the valve from going into the cylinder.
I confirmed the part number, it is correct. Not a Viper valve either....I had an old Viper valve and slid it in just for the heck of it...it slides in fine.

is the part number prefix 8dn or is it 8df on your package?

never had one machined wrong from Yamaha before, theres no other explanation
