Exciter II ST/VMAX XT strut swap problem

I recently put 1996 VMAX 600XT shocks on my 1993 Exciter II ST. I researched it before doing the swap and don't remember anyone mentioning the Stabilizer Joints (as they're listed in yamahapartshouse.com) not being compatible. I should have realized that they wouldn't work beforehand. My Exciter 2 stabilizer joints don't reach my bolts on the pivot point of my VMAX T.S.S. control arms as you can see. When comparing the equivalent stabilizer joints of the VMAX in parts diagrams, it doesn't look right. Has anyone ran into this issue? What worked for you?



This is the 93' Exciter 2 schematic and the parts I'm referring to are #'s 57 & 58 "Joint, Stabilizer 1 & 2".



Here is the 93' VMAX XT schematic and the corresponding part #'s 65 & 66 "Joint, Stabilizer 1 & 2". The system looks quite different so I'm wondering what people have done overcome this.

have to use the vmax ones and yes they will fit your sway bar

Yamaha Nuts, I picked up VMAX stabilizer joints and the bar(just in case). When I took my factory stuff apart I found the bar to be thinner for the exciter but would still have needed material removed for the VMAX female splined holes since the ends are bell shaped. There were no c-clip channels on the VMAX joints. I cut 3 5/16" off of the VMAX rod, ground it down to roughly the diameter of the VMAX splines, pounded it on and tighten the set screw. Have you done this mod before? If so how did you install the v-max joints to the bar?

Now that i think back on it i used the vmax ends and custom made a sway bar to fit out of chromoly ....this was a long time ago ....... and since i did it i have change out the front end again and put a bender sway bar kit on the sled
