Mystery fluid in coolant reservoir???? VMax 600 Redhead

I'm working on a 2000 VMax. I was noticing the coolant reservoir had some dark fluid in it. I got to checking it today and it is an oily red substance. The closest fluid I can compare it to would be light chainsaw oil, reddish in colour. Any ideas? It definitely was sitting above the green coolant, so much lighter.

The thought crossed my mind but this stuff is really really oily. Really heavy

This system is currently charged with the green stuff but seeing that the fluid I found is light than than it, it may have just migrated to the reservoir or perhaps one of the previous owners topped it up with the wrong stuff. If I were to crack open the system I'd do it at the end of the sled where the rear hose is as any fluid would be sitting up high in that hose.

Perhaps someone accidentally added oil into the coolant reservoir? I've seen it done before.

Yup, I would tend to agree that there's a better probability of that
