I usually run ultimax belts, but the local auto parts has these for a lot less money. Any of you guys run them and have any luck?

I stick with OEM belts on my Yamaha's because they last forever. you might pay more at first but they last 2 to 3 times longer. try it and see how it works, it might change your rpms thou.
 
I usually run OEM belts, but.....I just replaced the belt on my phazer, it was a yamaha belt but also had dayco on it, so I wonder if a lot of these OEM belts are made by other companies?
 
I'm sure a lot of them are made by carlisle or some other big company. I just don't like how the oem belts are so hard.

Dayco did make yamaha belts years ago. I believe Mitsuboshi makes them now and has for quite a few years. The problem with aftermarket belts is that the tolerences very big time from belt to belt. New belt means to re-shim or change your C-C to maintain correct clutching. The OEM belts have closer tolerences and are generally less expensive than aftermarket as well.
