Piston difference?

Will a set of 1998 srx700 pistons work in a viper motor, oem parts number are different, just wondering I found a set of 3 in nice shape. Thanks

yes, they will work, theres a very small weight difference but if your using all 3 no issues, the srx had a coating on the upper ringlands and the viper did not, they both use the same pistons rings, circlips as well.

Are the srx pistons lighter? Or viper? Any advantage to one or the other? And the coating, better? What is the purpose of the coating?

I wonder why the viper did not have the coating up top.
