Big News for Totallyamaha.com and RX1.info

I guess all our hard work and attention to detail is finally paying off! Yamaha has invited us to the 06 Proto ride. Of course not everyone can go since there are only nine of these machines in the world, basically I was told I could invite only so many members for the ride in Minocqua on the 15th and for the Brainerd ride on the 18th. These people will be representing all of us and will be required to write a ride report and post afterwards. They should be able to get at least a 15 min or more ride on each sled. Ride time is dependant on how many dealers show up. I wish I could invite everyone but since that is out of the question I have chosen members that I feel will represent the high standards of this forum. If you have specific things that you want more info on regarding the new sleds post them here so our representatives can ask the right questions and look in the right places. This is a great thing for TY and hopefully we'll see more opportunities like this in the future. The following members will be attending

Minocqua:

Sledder Steve
NOSPRO
buddah2
BlueByYou2000

Brainerd:

SRXSPEC
SRXSRULES
Convert

Keep in mind that if this goes over really well, I hope to be invited next year to the same VIP ride and will choose several other great members from this site.

I will also be attending and we should be able to bring back some great info for our fellow Yamaha Riders !!!!!

Guess i didnt get asked cause i dont like the seats. LOL! i love my yamaha's, dont get me wrong, but i am not sold on the 4 stroke theme "YET". not that i wouldnt entertain the idea of riding them however. i am not partial to rider forward either. i have hundreds of miles on my wifes 04 gade 600 ho sdi. i raced moto x for years, but i like a conventional ride for my sledding. i like riding grapes rx-1 but he has done alot to make it better. and for the nay sayers about reliability, i dont generally keep a sled for more than 2-3 years tops personally, so the 4 stroke reliability issue doesnt pertain to me (except for maybe resale). I dont beat or trash my two strokes, anyway. I sell them in showroom condition when i am done with them. i have put up to 8000 miles on two strokes (knock on wood) with no major problems. you cant please everyone. to each his own. ski

Congrats Tom, Yamaha really seems to be appreciating the knowledge and hard work put into this site. Cant wait to see what you guys have to say about the new rides.

Ditto, Congrads on the hard work. I'm sure you guys will represent all of us loyalist well. JW

Look at that list of suck ups :)

Congrates guys!!! I am truely envious. I hope there is a Canuck ride..I should be able to get on that!!

Thank you Tom,

It is a great honor to be invited and I promise you and the rest of the TY family that I take this very seriously and will do my level best to represent myself and TY in a positive manner that will allow us to be invited again.
:rocks:

one of you guys needs to let me know how much you like the 06' Rage with the new 136" mono skid!

Well heres my 2 cents worth. After this time none of the rest of us will ever get a chance to ride at a deal like this. Think about it Rules will destroy every sled they offer, and then tell them "Huh not bad" LOL Try and not total anything Eric, and you all have fun. I want to know how the efi runs. Maxdlx

I'm not far from Brainerd, maybe I can peak over the fence and watch. :) (and somehow get out of work)

Is that Minocqua ride going to be on Febuary 15 or March 15?
If its Febuary 15th you guys had better hope they get some more snow because as it stands right now they dont have a whole lot.
Ive been informed that there will still be demo rides at Cruiser Fest this weekend, however the snow conditions in that area are less than great.
It was really warm up there this past week (I believe it hit 50 last Friday) and on Sunday afternoon they got rain so all the snow is frozen down solid. They got 3-4" on Monday but thats it.
Im going up there this weekend to demo an RS Vector and a Fusion. I had hope to be able to do some riding as well (I need 195 more miles and I will be at 1000 for the year, then I can park my sled and be very satisfied with this winter. Any miles that I ride beyond 1000 are a HUGE blessing and considered by me to be a bonus) but I have my doubts as to how much riding I will actually get in. I anticipate that Thursday and Friday will be OK, but after that Im sure the trails will get pounded down to the dirt!
Best of luck and I hope to see some TYers are Cruiser Fest. By the way, if any of you go to the demo rides at Cruiser Fest, you might see me there. Look for a young guy in his mid 20s with long red hair wearing an orange Polaris jacket and an orange Z1R MX helmet. I actually look quite a bit like my avatar (minus the samurai sword of course). The guy in my avatar has a little bit longer hair than I do, but not by much! (I plan to have hair as long as his or longer very, very soon!!!)

I know, I live a little more then an hour from Minocqua....its Feb 15th.
So its like next Tuesday!?! You had better start warming up your snow dance, 'cause it looks like you are gonna need it! :WayCool: LaLaLa
Well, I hope you all have fun and arent afraid to tell the Yamaha reps that way it is, no matter if they wanna hear the truth or not.

If someone could ask and/or after riding both machines over a good bumpy stretch of trail what is the difference in handling characteristics between the Apex RTX and the Apex GT. I'm guessing that the RTX is more of stiffer suspended machine for the ditchbanging/snow-x wannabes and the GT is more of a plush trail cruiser suspension with compression and rebound adjustability on all 3 shocks. And you guys who ride the Apex GT please try making adjustments to the Öhlins® Mono Shock™ EC rear suspension to see how well it responds to adjustments as well as the front clickers with compression and rebound adjusters too.

I'll bet that the GT will handle bumps pretty close to as well as my M-10 Ohlins Viper 136" with Ohlins clickers on the front as well and that is one sweet riding sled.
I'm debating about going 4-stroke 2 years earlier than expected and for me I'd rather have the plusher riding suspension so the GT is most likely my choice. I just wish they would've offered that same sled in a 136" version for us Midwest riders who like to go boondocking in the UP and like the longer track on the trails as well to bridge the bumps.
Also if you guys get a chance to give them input into what you'd want to see in the future how about asking for a 141" Apex GT with tipped up rails so it will still corner well on hardpacked trails and really shine in the powder.

Oh yeah and one more wish how about getting together with Camoplast again and designing a 1" version of the Ripsaw track so we don't have to change out drivers to stud the track. The Ripsaw rocks but I switched to a 9830 rather than studding my Ripsaw 04 Viper to save rotating mass. The 9830 is may as well be an asphalt track compared to a Ripsaw, no grab without studs. I have no idea what everyone sees about this track other than it is lightweight.
