Big News for Totallyamaha.com and RX1.info

Since there probably won't be any 06 demos for the general public, this will be a great opportunity to give some objective feedback on the new Yamis.

I'm hoping that one of the 06' riders is my size. I mean, I'm 6'1", 220 lbs. w/34 in. jean inseam, so I would want to hear feedback from a rider close to my size.

Here's an idea Tom: Maybe each rider give a brief profile of themselves. A 5'8" 180 pound guys riding experience may be quite different then a taller and fatter guy, like me.

Maybe that's going overboard. Either way, any feedback will be great.

Have fun

A good idea might be to put together a list of specific observation points to think about for each rider focusing on handling, suspension, fit and finish, etc...

Good idea...I am 6-2 and 250 with my sled clothes on and I have 34" inseam...I will let you know how they fit....but please lets see a list of points.

MrSled,

Awsome, glad to hear your hard work paying off! Is it going to be held on lake minouqua? Maybe when you guys done, we can suck some coldies at Bosaski's? ;):D

O.K., I'll jump in the fray, so to speak. I'm 5'10" and 290 dressed to ride. Only 30" inseam...........short little legs, eh?

Looking forward to the opportunity

If you only get 15 minutes per sled you don't want to have to deal with too much information but at the same time it should help keep their impressions of the machines separate from each other. I would have to imagine once these things fire up it would be pretty easy to loose track of things.

A brief description of the attributes each sled has over the other. Example: what does the Apex ER do better or worse than the ApexGT?

Congrats to the guys that get to ride.
Great that we are recognized by Yamaha. Cant wait to hear the feedback.
I think I want a Nitro.
I am sooooooooooo excited and I am not going on the test ride.
Bob.

I'm 6' 4" and 250 lbs. in street clothes with a 32" inseam.

While I don't mind a snort across the lake or a rip through the tight and twisty woods trails, my true passion for sledding is distance riding. I like picking a spot on a far away map then figuring out how to get there and back. I'll be paying particular attention to the wind protection offered with the short shields and raised bars.

Very cool. Congrats to the guys who were picked. Tom, I'm sure it must have been a difficult decision to make on who to pick. When we were talking at the Grays Lake snow show you mentioned at that time that this might happen. Pretty fricken cool! :WayCool: Does anyone know when the shows for the general public will be? And where in Wisconsin? Later, Skylar.

Sxrlar, you can find the listing of the general shows on the Yammie Web Site:

Tom et ell,
Great for you guys, I'm sure you'll do a great job representing us guys. Just keep the ;):D till after the rides.

I like GBW approach, similar to Rode Report Reviews. Keep the list the same for all sleds, ratings A-F or 1-5 from Best to Worst. A small personal review/opinion after the ratings. I think GBW covered most aspects. Might want to make up score cards to carry with ya so as soon as ya hop off one you can fill them out to keep em straight. Have a great time and hope there will be some positive feedback or negative, just keep it honest for us poor boys that don't get to ride em. :yam:

I'm pretty close to your size Steve 6',3" 230 so which one would you be most interested in purchasing. I really like the Apex GT but that price tag may scare me off. I can't see spending more than 9k on a toy that I'll only use for 3 months out of the year. I may weight it out another year and see if they lose some more pounds before going 4-stroke. But if you guys come back with some honest and glowing reports that the Apex GT handles superbly and feels like it's no heavier than a Viper...then I might be persuaded to pull the trigger. Hopefully I can find a dealer who will sell one a t a reasonable price too :ORC

OK here goes I'm one of the little guys 5' 10" 145lbs when wet 32" inseam sounds like we will be covering a wide range of body types here lol. I like what you guys are thinking on the one list for all sleds bit I'm gonna cut and paste it on the RX forum so the members out there can add to it also. Maybe Monday when Tom gets back from the TY ride he can put it all together and make up one list for all of us. As GBW says it should be a good way to keep each sled seperate I just hope we have a few minutes between rides to fill out the list before we ride the next one and start mixing them up. :rocks:

Going along with the same idea I had reading this, which GBW pretty much covered, maybe you should think a little bit about how to evaluate all the things that were listed. I think an evaluation sheet of your own to post with alot of the suggestions would be great. Only thing I would add is that to truly evaluate these type of critera, you need somewhat standard conditions/events. I would suggest that in the limited time you have to ride, you some how have everyone try to ride to specific types of terrian if at all possible to rate the performance. It is much more important when evaluating something to do short, usually fairly low speed, repeatable events that are of various types to gage the proper characteristics of the particular vehicle. When you get everyone doing the same events it will really give you a population of the results. An example would be studder bumps: When you find some, have everyone run the bumps from a stand still at say 3/4 throttle and then switch sleds. You may want to run them again at a 40 mph clip and switch again. I know this will be hard to do if you are limited in time but if you show them you are really evaluating these sleds they may open up the time limit. These would be the same type of events that the factory engineers do to evaluate performace. I am sure you can think of many others that would be right in line. Just a suggestion.

Tom - BTW I guess you didn't need an ace in the hole on the drinking team for this one. If so, just let me know bud, I'll be there for you! hehehe ;):D

Also, I would be happy to help in any way from afar. I think it is great we can finally get some real riders into the evaluation process - the automotive corporations have been doing this for decades.

Tell Yamaha we want EFI for the vector for next year. Sure would also be nice to see more built in storage for the solo trail touring sleds. Can you give us a comparison of the new Mono shock suspension compared to a well tuned M-10. To all the riders going "Enjoy your day in the sun" and represent all of us from TY well. 06 line up looks great for the trail touring crowd good job Yamaha!!!
