Yamaha et340 engine VIN-number

Hi!
I`m from Finland and I`m new on this forum. I swapped the engine on my et340 but the cdi-box didn`t work with the ignition plate so now I wonder if someone knows the year of the engine by the VIN-number.
The original engine VIN-number is E338-159169
The new engine VIN-number is 8X5-174311
I would want to know the year of the new engine so i can start the engine. Now the cdi-box is from the original engine and I heard that the cdi-box should be from same year as the ignition plate.

Your original engine was likely in an '84 ET340H. The new engine number does not show up on the charts but could have either been in an '84 model or used in an '85 model. It was likely made in '84 (the engine itself).

I would think the CDI would be fine, but didn't really check for any known differences between those years. The prefix 8X . . . was used in '84 - I just don't know of any 8X5 . . . engines.

I have to take the charge coil from the original engine's ignition plate and put it on the new engine's ignition plate and then it will hopefully work.
