bender piped viper problem

last year i bought these pipes. i phoned dalton's clostest dealer around me for a clutch kit they sent me 53 gram weights 54/43 helix, blue black primary spring and they said i didn't need to change my secondary but to put the per-wind on 80. put everything on sled and it was great. ran it for 2 weeks and pullin 9000 rpms desided to bring gagement down tried 60 on pre-wind the sled use to bog out of the hole it seemed like there was not enough pre-wind
two weeks down the road i found out i has to cut my air box so i did what bender recommended.
i was running 165 mains and 55 poilets 2 turns out on my air screw, my needles are in stock position i decided to jet down to get better performance to 162 mains across the board never did anything else.
a month went by i said to myself this sled feels like it's gettin slower so i changed my gearing to 21/38 instead of 22/38 kept riding it at the end of the year surprise i burnt it down. took piper off and put it back stock. this year i put the pipes back on 165 mains 55 poilets 2 turns out on the air screw same clutch kit blue/black spring in primary 53/43 helix stock spring in secondary per-wind on 70 53 gram weights rpms around 8800 gearing at 21/38 took it out no good for nothing getting beat by 600s i am PISSED!! is there a chance my crank is out now. i have no pull off the line or mid range .(feels like power valves not working)RPMS IS ALWAYS ON 8800-9000

Your need to be way more specific then that to give you any ideas. Altatude where you ride, and what kind of riding???? Looks like your in the Mountains, if that's the case you should call Bender, SLP, HAUCK, Aaen or any of the manufactures

Whoa guys... he did say sea level, groomed tails and Lakes (aka avg trailer rider). However said... they are right... in order to get a decent answer, you will need to offer up some more information, including what . Was everthing done (including pipes) done last month?

Engagement, belt (DN?), belt deflection, secondary twist, Jetting (mains, pilots, needles), EGT readings or piston wash... plus anything else you can provide, including how many RPM are you short when you say won't pull.

Let us know what you've checked and eliminated, or what you've tried.

9000 RPM is way to fast, you need to spin around 85-8600 rpm with the Bender pipes. You need to add around 2 grams to bring your rpm down.

He edited the post with the additional info. after I posted mine...Yes I agree with SRXspec, 9000 is way too high. I was told by Mike at Bender that their pipes work best at 8700. That's where mine are at and it pulls like an SOB...I will check when I can to let you know my set up. I ride in a very similar setting. I think I'm running 167.5 Mains. I have Heel clickers, I don't know the weight. I bought everything used and the previous owner had everything set up just right...so I didn't even look. I know that's stupid on my part, but I've had 400 awesome, trouble free miles so far.

I'm running my SLP's at 1200ft with 160 main's all across. From some of these posts, I should be blown up already. Keep my fingers crossed as I am approaching 1500 miles on this jetting. (with tempa flow at 1/4 cc)

KOODAT - How do you like the slp pipes - did you get the coated ones or painted? I just got a set, haven't decided whether I should keep or ????

Thanks,

absolutly bullet proof

very nice, very quite. Have the painted ones. No real heat issue, just some heat tape in certain areas and out the wire loom in and tape the wires.

Follow SLP's instructions and you'll be close. Tweak from there.

So they're not much louder than stock, huh? Cool. I think I'll put them on, sounds fun. You think a 1 1/4 Ripsaw with no studs will do ok with the power or is studdung a "must do" with the pipes? I mostly trail ride in WI woods, fields and lakes.

;)!

if you pretty much only ride trails and don't do too much lake/river riding and racing, you should be just fine with the 1.25 Ripsaw. Its when you get on the ice that the Ripsaw won't be any good, only studs will help you there.
