Awesome looking sled! what is the story behind this thing? is it an actual Yamaha factory racer? under hood pics!!

Was a factory racer the first year. Bought this sled late 2002 but everything is changed över the years. The only thats still from the beginning is the lexan hood and front ohlins. The engine is not completed yet
 
Does it have the trick factory rack steering components? I'd like to see some detailed pics of that if so.
