aftermarket viper starter

Anyone run one of those EBAY aftermarket starters? I got a bad one on my daughters viper. I have cleaned it, lubed it and it still wont engage half the time and when it does it only stays engaged for a little bit. Or stick with OEM, i am looking for a good used OEM one if anyone has one laying around. Thanks chris

A few things to check before purchasing a new starter.
1. Brushes
2. Brush ground
3. Corroded up battery cable
4. Corroded up starter cable
5. Load test battery
6. Use a known good battery.
7. Jump w/ a automotive battery(higher amps)

This is coming from an automotive standpoint.
Is there any alignment “slop” at the starter mounting holes? So that the bendix can easily engage the flywheel?

Yup battery is good. This started last year and have been milking it. I’ll pull it and check brushes. But I’m thinking it’s ready for a rebuild but didn’t want to mess with it now. Just wanted to replace then fix later for a back up. We still have a bunch of these restarts running.
