Will a small dent in center pipe right before the larger part starts hurt performance? Runs well, turns RPM

No it will not hurt anything.
no. If it bothers you. Plug the ends and put the air to it, about 50-80 lbs, then heat up the area slowly. I have taken out some bad damage with this method.

WHAT did you use to plug the ends?
Go to the plumbing section and buy expansion plug for the large end. Heater hose on the small end piped down to an air chuck fitting. Hook up to your air and turn up the regulator. Be careful not to get it too light red.

Would it matter if they are ceramic coated stock pipe?
