1.25 Track W/ Studs On A Viper

I have been told the 8" drivers are a must. I want to try 1.187 " studs with rear exchanger protection and see what happens. I have seen this on a 97 V Max and it is still OK. The way it is the back is way too loose for me. Anyone ever try this ? Other way is 8" drivers, new chain, new gear and protection then studs and backers. I guess I want the best of both worlds.

Is there enough room on the new sleds to stud 1 1/4" tracks ???
 
Yes and it hooks like mad! Just drop to 8 tooth extravert drivers and your all set. I'm running stock gearing and see 115 on hard pack snow... I'm sure I would see much faster on ice. This last weekend I put the transfer rods alway up, and I could easily lift the ski's up and put it right on the back bumper. It made for a few great pictures!

1.075 studs with stock drivers leave you with about 5/8" between tip of stud and exchanger fins. So if you went with longer studs on the 1.25 it would be very close. I think I am going to 8 tooths drivers next time around.
