Started the old 700 Venture this afternoon for the first time in almost 6 months. Started fourth pull and after a slight idle speed adjustment, idled beautifuly! Even with 16 000kms you really can't have a much better running sled.

Ripped out my skid and cluches, went threw everything, reassembled, and then went out for a rip! Managed my first 12kms of the new season! Sled ran perfect!

Wow, that is great. We don't even have any snow here. It was 9 degrees here yesterday. Looking like a green Christmas. I have mine ready to go, new rear skid out of a 02 Viper, shocks were all redone, new front shocks and radius rods as well to get the wide stance. Carbs were cleaned this summer. Now all I need is some SNOW.

This was today's excitement. At the moment it looks like the forward skid shock has broken in half!

Nope, I'm not a jumper. I hit the gas going up hill in 20" of snow and she broke.....

Me, my borher and a buddy did the long 30km round trip threw narrow isolated trails to recover my sled before a major snow storm hit my area. Thank god that's done with!
Got the skid out lastnight and the forward shock did indeed fail after 4500kms. At this moment nothing else seems damaged from this incident.

Sled's up and running again! Ordered a new 04-287 N7 Kimpex shock. Oddly enough the rod is 3/8" shorter then my broken 04-287 N7 shock!!?? Weird! Ended up welding my old one as I was concerned of potentially gaining more
unwanted ski pressure with the new shorter shock. Reinstalling the skid. Managed another 40 km ride today and all is well again!

Obviously you two are in different portions of Ontario. I just realized that Ontario is pretty much 1/2 the width of the North American continent. Stretches from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio and I think the eastern portion ends somewhere @ Pennsylvania. Holy Moly!!!

Actually I'm probably only 4 to 6 hours north of him. And that is the difference between green grass or a full on winter wonderland!

Yup, that is correct. I believe you are 5 hours north of me. I am in between Toronto and Detroit.

Just hit 2000kms for this seasons total today! Sled runs awesome, but may have been my last ride. Warm weather and lots of up coming rain will more then likely be the end to the another successful season.
I hope you don't mind me hijacking this thread for a bit. I have a 99 vt 600, it went 139 km/h, measured on a sports radar. 18/38 gearing.

No problem at all.
Wow that's fast considering the low gearing! fastest I got out of my 700 this year was 148 km/h on my GPS with stock 22/39 gearing. My sled doesn't have big top speed, I'm assuming it's the clutch weight profiles or maybe the 1.35 X 136" Corbra ? But the acceleration from 0 to 130 km/h is just awesome, aspecially considering 20k km on the motor.
Like I ve already mentioned in another thread, I was soooo happy to drag a 600 eteck renegade with my heavier, high mileage, lower powered sled and we were basically even from start all the way up to our top speed. Even my other buddy with an 800 eteck renegade admitted mine felt much more responsive then his.
I really do love my old sled
