Outer chainsaws bearing removal?

How do I accomplish this? Is there a special kind of puller? Its the #8 beating on any exploded view if your wondering.

Been a while but I think I just used a hand arbor press and a large socket to push the upper chaincase bearings out.

There's no hole on case to do this...so how would you make that work? Only way to get at it is to pull it..

I brought mine to a local garage and they removed the outer case bearing with a slide hammer for free.

Slide hammer? That was my 1st thought

i cheat when i do mine like that. i put it in the oven or in front of the heater for 15-20 minutes. then i tap the case on a wooden block wearing welding gloves or oven mitts. bearing comes out as you tap it on the block.

Lay the cover open side down on a piece of plywood to protect the gasket surface.
Use a hand torch to heat up the backside of cover around the area that surrounds the the bearing.
Use a large RUBBER mallet and bang the backside of cover directly over the bearing.
The bearing should easily drop out of the cover.

Works for me...

Many times in the bearings part number, is the generic number that we all know them by.
For example.... this Yamaha bearing is a 6204.
93306-20402-00
It is the 5th thru the 8th number.

have to watch though as i have ordered assuming that and it had a special od and id for the aplication.

Got it guys..put some heat to it and banged it out on a 6x6 piece of wood
