Friend of mine has a 2000 venture 600 triple. Was there a jetting mod for sea level riding or was that on the 700 red head motor,,,, or both?
Also, what is a good bolt on helix without changing anything else. Degrees in spring wrap?
Thanks

I could give you a recipe for a 700, but have never owned a 600 Triple. Yet.

I think the jetting will be just fine. It's going to sip the fuel with 136 and 133 mains.
Stock helix is a straight 43 so I was wondering if a 48/40 would work great, everything else stock

Is that supposed to be a 51/43 but measures 48/42?

They sure are off by alot!
This is one was off a 2006 Apex,. Picked it up in immaculate condition with less 500kms on it. Cost 50$ Canadian . Did wonders for my 700 Venture!
I'd be interested to see if they give simular result on the smaller triples, as I mite be partaking in a 600 triple build project build in the next year or so....

Anybody know the stock HP of the 600 red head motors?
Being that it's a 136 Venture, I'm guessing the 48/40 will work beautifully then

I believe they are around 95 - 98 hp

Those 600 triple respond to many easy cheap 700 mods. Best to run good quality oil and fuels.
- Remove the middle layer of the head gasket
- Reed spacers or Reed stopper Notch mod (only on stainless reed stoppers)
-Drop needles one notch on all three carbs.

That sounds more like the HP for the 600 Twins

Don't recall the sources I read the 600 hp claims from but it makes sense when you consider, most information seems to indicate the 700 redheads are around 108 to 112hp in stock form. If this is at all accurate, then the 600 triple makeing 105 hp with 16.6% less displacement seems very unlikely. This supports the claims of 95 to 98hp.
Again , I'm simply recycling the info I've been exposed to. Obviously I'm not sure if that is 100% accurate but after many miles riding both 600 and 700 triples redheads, I tend to believe they're resonably close. Just one man's 2cents

The 600 twin was 98 hp, bought one new.
Not 100% sure on the triple, but have never heard a number of under 100 for them.

Well that is interesting! So in your opinion what are realistic numbers for both 600 and 700 triples?

Just from memory, 700 was 112-115 range, an 600 was 102-105 range. Seems like everyone has a different number when asked, and I am no authority either.

Thanks for sharing that. Seems plausible to me.
