Today I was in Eagle River filling up my truck's gas tank. All of the sudden, these 2 people on Venture 600s pull up.
I could tell they were rentals, because both of them had ski jackets and pants on and were wearing cotten mittens.
Im leaning aganst my truck, waiting for the pump to click off, and Im trying not to laugh at the conversation Im hearing. "Hey, what kinda gas do I put in this thing?", the lady says. "How the F would I know!", he husband says. Then, she looks at me and says, "Hey, what kinda gas do I put in this thing???" I smile and say, "87 will do just fine!"
Then the guy says to me, "Hey, where's the gas cap at on this thing???" I point and say, "right there under the handlebars".
They fill up their sleds and the lady looks at me and says, "My hands are really cold!" I kinda laugh and say, "Well, if you got some real gloves it would help and you might need to turn your handwarmers on." She kinda looks at me like Im from China and says, "handwarmers???" Im like, "Yeah, you see these 2 little dials, one is the handwarmer and the other is the thumbwarmer." So, she walks over to the sled and turns the dials all the way up. Since the sled isnt running, of course they dont work. I explain to her that the engine must be running for them to work.
So anyways, and she explains to him that these machines have heated grips and her husband is like, "really??? Wow! thats kinda cool."
I hope I told them right about the octane. I didnt think the Venture, especially a 600 would be a high-compression engine that would need high-zoot gas. Also, that lady was one really ditzy blonde.
She was kinda cute though, so I didnt mind too much!
She'd be the type who would be good to keep around as long as she didnt talk too much!
Ah well, thats skiers for ya!
