tach ?

I have a 2000 srx 700,sled has 5200 miles on it.The tach started fluttering,if you hold it a specific rpm it will flutter sometimes.,it will do it at idle also.any ideas of what is causing this ?

Check your wiring harness for a rub through. Usually it happens with the harness that runs under the motor and goes to the hood.

Thanks,I suppose the I need to remove the motor to properly check this.

No you don’t you can pull it out under the motor and inspect. Look at tech page index

No need to pull motor like stated above. Tie a string to the harness so you can pull it back under.
