First Sled, 1998 600 - How to determine which model?

I recently purchased a '98 600 sled, but I'm not sure which model it is exactly. I was told it is a V-Max, but I have no idea how to tell that. There are no markings or labels that I've seen suggesting the specific model.

What are some things I can look for to determine which 600 model I have?

It would help a ton if you took some pictures of the rest of the sled, then we would know pretty quickly. Seems to be a XTC or a SX

Best way to tell is look at the hood and read the decals.

I added the only photo I have of the exterior of the sled. If more are needed, I can get them posted in a week or so. I am storing the sled away from home.

It’s a XT 600.
Black hood, and non rebuildable shocks tell the story.

i seem to remeber some of the v max sleds where black with red/yellow decals back then. i did demo ride one.

Yes, but the Vmax Didn't start till 1999. The 1999 Vmax was black, with yellow/orange decals and non rebuildable shocks.
If its a 1998, its a XT 600.

You can check the tunnel for a date stamp.
If the tunnel date says 1998, its a 1999 model.
Always one year later than the date stamped.
