Studding 1.25 Tracks

This is starting to annoy me. Have any of you actually tried to stud the 1.25 with out changing the drivers??????????????????? We have several sleds here(SRX's and Vipers) with 1.25 Saw's and studs running the stock drivers. Thousands of miles with no issues. We just trim the track at the protectors to keep them from rubbing and that all. We are using 1.325 studs. Do you people need pics, phone numbers or what? It can be done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Cool, hook me up with some pics, or the numbers, I'll be putting 1.325 megabyte's in mine tuesday when I get back. And I'm running all the protectors and the stock drivers!
 
wow everyone in here makes it sound like you can't stud the 1.25's with stock drivers, it was almost becoming common knowledge. Good to know they can be studded with the 1.25's, but is there any risk to it?
 
That's what's been holding me back from putting a 1.25" track on my viper (no studs). You just made my day! Would like to see some pics if you have them. Thanks in advance.
 
No problem on pictures. I'll see if I can get them later this week. One will be of a Viper S with 1.325's. All he did was add the heat and tunnel protectors. One of the others will be of a 00 SRX running a six pitch 1.25 track with 1.325's(he also has a big bore and the widest front end kit I have ever seen).Its something like 48". Fricken Crazy. Oh, it also has over 8000 miles with this set up. I can also give you a phone number to a local yamaha performance shop that does this with 1.25 tracks with no issues. He is very well known in New England and with Maxximum Performance.
 
Stud recomendation???????? I'm running 108 1.325's in my 136" rip saw. I feel that I need a few more however. I'm going with 162 in my srx with the 136" ripsaw.
 
you think my srx will hook and book like a mofo? cuz right now all i do is spin til about 65
 
Hook up

Hooking up has alot of variables involved. Such as Track, studs(carbide V's Pics), weight transfer, conditions, clutching, power, rider weight, color of the sky. I think you get my point. However it will hook better than a rubber track with out studs on glare ice,
 
Any problems doing it to a 121? 02 Viper with rear heat exchanger. I have the tunnel protectors and the front heat exchanger protectors on from the factory. Will they work or do I need to change them out?
 
how much did you have to trim off the lugs so thay would miss the heat exchangers? the reason i ask is, i just bought a brand new 1.25 ripsaw and it would be easier to trim the lugs before i put it back in the sled.
 
On an srx, it won't hit the exchanger at all, just the track will rub on the heat exchanger protector. I just let mine ware in, its already done now. The studs won't hit anything, I'm putting in 192 1.325's on tuesday.

I checked all this shat out on my own, figured what the hell. :beer:
 
your gonna need to shim the strips

the track will need to be kept fairly tight, or it will balloon the track at spped and those long studs WILL eat right thru the tunnel and into the bottom of the gastank, and you wont go far after that! The only way to remedy this is to shim the tunnel protectors so they stick down lower and keep the longer studs away from the tunnel. If you look up thru the back of the tunnel and push up in the center of the track, you will see what I am talking about, been there done that!
 
Yes, it can hit if you run the track too loose. The thing with the ripsaw is its less of a problem because the lugs run over the clip locations. Those lugs help keep the track away from the tunnel when it does balloon. You can shim them about 1/4" but we have found its not needed if the track tension is correct.
 
I understand loose is better on the stock track. do you lose top end due to a tighter 1.25" track? I already lost 10mph due to gearing and viper shocks on my srx. don't want to loose anymore topend.

also. considering a buddies Predator 1.25. is this a good track for the srx?
and do i need to clip that track anywhere?

A 1.25 on the SRX will wear in just a short time. Really no need to trim anything. I installed a 9818 1.25 and had no problems at all. Just let it rip a few times and your ready to go. I am going to stud it next. The studs shouldn't be sticking out past the studs no farther than any other size track you stud so it should be safe. That's my therory and I am sticking to it.
