The surface im racing on is a groomed track with a trail groomer, so it's pretty hard packed.
I know I don't have a race sled here, but I love to make the trips to go racing, I use my sled for losts of things, trail riding, deep snow at times, ditch banging, I know the other things add more weight and im already a hefty 250 ibs so I dont' extpect to win all the time, but i want my sled to do the best it can geared for 1/8 mile is fast enough for all my other driving too, where I and the sled are both heavy I figured lower gearing would work ok, with 23/39 i ran 100mph on the speedo so i changed it down to 22/39 (still 8 tooth drivers) and she topped out at about 95mph but it took more then 1/8 mile to get there...........
Finally as for my competition, it's all kinds from RMK's to F7's I know I have lots of 'fine tuning' to do, since i made so many changes since last year, the gearing is one, then the helix angle is second, and I still have some fine tuning to do on my clutch yet, it's overrevving slightly, got heavier weight to go in the tips .
Below is a pic after I modified my track, cut down from 2.25 to about 2.0" and I cut out the center paddles over the track windows to clear my coolers, lots of time there.........hehe.
