My SRX sounded like that while it was digesting a Power Valve.

Went for a ride lastnight and I was very attentive to what noises / sounds my engine makes when idling aspecially from cold start.
. In my case even with my ears only a foot away, I have absolutely no metalic noises coming from my engine at idle.

Mine also sounded like that prior to fixing one of my power valves. The cable pulled through and it was not functioning. Bought a new valve and everything sounds better.

Long shot, cracked exhaust manifold?
I'm gonna look at the manifold. I'm still working on it. I'm getting the engine mount fixed right now. I'll update when I figure something out.
Found a cracked manifold. Could definitely be it. Now I just need to fix the broken studs I created while getting the manifold off...

Just one side huh? I would also look inside the manifold as well. Cracks could be starting from the inside out just a thought. I would put a weld in all 4 joints.

Get an srx solid wishbone torque stop. https://shop.portyamaha.com/fiche_s...=Snowmobiles&make=Yamaha&year=2001&fveh=34053 parts 15-23 direct fit on your Viper, any year srx. Never break another motor mount.
I think I'm going to add a couple of bolts to it. There is two more locations. That should do the same thing as what you're suggesting.
