Perhaps the need for 91 or better is due to the triple pipes?
When I put triples on my Viper the SLP paperwork said to only run 91 or better.

I would use premium if you have aftermarket triple pipes.

I always do, plus there are a few places in town that have non-ethanol premium so I can avoid having that in the tank when I store it for the off season as well.
