Shopyamaha lists the following stator part numbers for Viper

2002-03 8EK-81410-00-00
2004 8EK-81410-01-00

Partzilla lists this part number for all years of viper, and its like $100 cheaper than the 8EK-81410-01-00


8EK-81410-10-00

I have a 2004. Is that a new universal part or something? Why is it not on shopyamaha?

Now I need a puller, or plans to build one.
 
We’ll its going for crap so far. 2 of the Allen heads that hold the starter cup to the flywheel stripped out. Didn’t try the third.

And I’m assuming putting a bar through the primary to hold the crank to get the flywheel nut loose is not a good idea??

You can do the bar in the primary.
Mr. Viper has suggested using a chisel, at an angle. It will slightly cut into the bolt, while the shock of hitting the chisel will help loosen it.
Place chisel at the top of the bolt head, slightly angled towards counterclockwise and hit.
 
Got everything off, wasn't able to get the starter cup off, so had to use a 3 jaw on the flywheel, not happy with it but its apart, need to inspect the flywheel now...thing was SUPER tight on there....
 
Yep, thats normal.
You can get a used flywheel on ebay very reasonable if you need one.
I just got one for my Viper motor a few days ago.
