Spi piston ring end gap

Is it best to go off of yamahas spec for end gap or spi when installing spi pistons in an srx. Yamaha is .014 .022 and spi is .016 .039. I've been setting them to .017 to split the difference
 

Go with Yammi manual, .017 will be fine, above .025 there will be blow by and compression will start to drop, slowly. Spi rings will last seasons so dont worry about how long it will take them to wear to .025 man, clutch it for 8500rpm and let it FLY :sled1:
