well all that it did was blow the end out of the shock, so i think a rebuild would fix it?

Can you take a picture? If not take it to your dealer and ask. They can probably rebuild it if that's all you need. The cost for a used replacement one would be about the same price as having yours rebuilt, but it can go out at any time. Hope this helps, Soc

If I remember right the XTC has KYB aluminum bodied rebuildable gas shocks.
