Am I Running Lean??

So, I made a previous post about hot exhaust. (2000 Vmax 600 redhead) Exhaust is clear. Not getting too many suggestions. Have done some reading on other forums, and some suggest overheated exhaust is caused by lean condition. My carbs are spotless, and I believe air screw is set to 1.75 turns from seated.
Sled starts well, but can seem boggy, like it’s loaded up , and occasionally backfires, off the start. Then seems to clear up and run well. But exhaust gets hot very quickly, to the point in afraid wiring harnesses and body plastics will melt.
I will post a pic of the plugs, which look good to me.
If I am lean, will turning the air screw out more enrich?
Please, I would love to hear thoughts and suggestions, as the snow is finally here!

They look fine to me. Sometimes these liked a 45 pilot instead of the 42.5 to reduce the popping at low rpm/warm up.
These engines are slightly boggy at low rpms compared to a power-valved engine.
The fuel mixtue screws have no effect at any rpm above 5000

Any suggestions to cure my hot exhaust?

Plug colour may look great but could be from running ABOVE 1/4 throttle most of the time. Perhaps under 1/4 throttle (running on Pilot Jet only) would create a different colour? For my sled (being older age as well), I like to use Synthetic Oil. And like to see my plugs on the little darker colour range.

I've got a 1999 600 triple Venture 2-up which is very similar to your sled. When I last cleaned my Sled's carbs, I did Pilot screw at 1.5 turns out. Would .25 more turs make a difference? Not too sure. Might be worth investigating.

Perhaps one of these ideas might work for your 600 sled as well?

Before going any further do a compression test and make sure all three cylinders are ok.
