I'm going to be replacing the base gasket in my 1998 SRX 700. I've never done this before. After I remove the old gasket and get the crankcase and cylinder surfaces cleaned up good, do I simply install the new base gasket dry or should I use some type of sealant to smear on the gasket?
Thanks for any insight and advice.

The OEM base gaskets are metal and as stated meant to be installed dry.
Don't install an after market fiber gasket...stick with OEM.
