Vmax 500 tach swap from srx 600

I bought a used 1998 vmax 500 with electric start but removed it because the starter was damaged and it had a different clutch. The tach was busted up. So I pulled one off a smashed up srx600 I have. Future project. The srx tach does not want to work. I pulled out most of the wiring harness to check for rub troughs bare wires. I am thinking of bypassing all of it to the cdi. What colour wire is used on the cdi

I think that is because of the different tach. 500 uses twin pulses and the 600 triple pulses.
