Hi
I bought myself an yamaha sxr 700 2000 low milage, stock clutch setup and gear.
The problem is that the belt is slipping in the primery clutch and the motor overreving.
I have an old 8dn belt and stock clutch setup.
My plan is to get a new 8dn belt, set secondary from 60 to 70, and put a 4,5 g rivet in the inner hole of my flyweight, sounds smart?
Or should i go for a softer belt, different flyweights, 8bu, 8ab???
Not looking for the extreme setup, just a setup without slipping/overreving.

Thanks peter johansson

what you are proposing sounds like a good starting point. instead of the 8ab weights though you could use an aftermarket 40 gram base weight and adjust from there. i used the thunder shift ones on my sx500r and had good results as the clutching set up i was mirroring called for the 8ab weights.

the sx500r used a softer belt than the 8dn but it ended up running 8dn once it was extended to 136 as stock belt did not like the extra taction.
