I was out today with my friends skimming some water, they were able to go the whole lenght of the strip which is about 200 feet long, i have trouble crossing from one side of it to the other which is no more than 20 feet long. I get a good run for it and soon as i hit the water the skis bounce up and down like a seal then towards the end my belt slips and makes a loud screaming noise and i have no power left to get across. Never sunk yet but there are mxz 380s better on water than my 600 mountain max.

PS i have it clutched, weight transfer rods, track cut down to 1.5 inch and have it all sealed up around the spots where water typically gets in other than the vents on the hood itself. Can someone please help me figure out why its so bad on water?

Not meaning to be rude but.........ITS A SNOWMOBILE! Boats are for water. Maybe you should try not taking as big a run. If you're getting a big splash when you enter you may be entering too fast. Take notice of the other guys' entries. I've seen a few go to the bottom as a result of of big splash. Gets in the intake then gurgle, gurgle, blub, blub, someone throw me a rope. Check out the Whitbourne Regatta video uner the water sports section on sled-headz.com.

the water is getting on the clutch for shure making the belt slip there is a good size hole around the sway bar mount and the small vents under the bumper need to be closed up i use a piece of plastic to do the this like a oil jug cut to size that will slip in between the body and the mesh.haveing chained a bulk head on a srx i can say they do not seal up well water gets in were the radios rods meet up.the old exciter was good but i have given up trying my srx after hanging the skis on the edge one weekend.got away with a wet seat and a shrunken ego.len

Seal up your belly pans, and cover some vent holes on the clutch side. If you shine a flashlight on your bellypan in the dark, you will be able to see where water also comes in.

we do alot of water skippin where im from and the best thing for you to do is seal the vents on the front on the belly pan with tape and enter the water slowly then put the throttle to the bar. she has a big track so she should catwalk through all the water.

i never had a problem with either of my sx 700's on water, but my buddy's 98 srx always had the same problem you are describing, definately water coming in somewhere
