Getting the extroverts positioned properly on the shaft is critical....they don't go in the same place as the old ones as they now drive and are positioned on the center of the track windows. Take measurements and determine where they should go before removing the old drivers.

What do I need to do to make the speedometer somewhat accurate?

I just let the speedos alone knowing they were over indicating but I think if you can figure which mountain maxes came with 8 tooth drivers[if any did] you could install their speedo drive.
