I have a mostly stock trail ridden 1979 SRX440 and have had a few people tell me I should remove and discard the thermostat as they can cause trouble but I'm a little nervous about doing so as it already seems to take quite a while to get it up to operating temperatures [with the high clutch engagement I like to let it warm up awhile before reving the crap out of it to get it to move] anyhoo was wondering what the general consensus is on SRX440 thermostats, is it best to keep it keep it in or remove it?

If the sled came with a thermostat keep it in just make sure its functioning properly.
The SRXs of the 70s and early 80s have radiators as well as heat exchangers.
Cooling systems with rads are designed and function most effectively with thermostats...just like our vehicles.
