TY 06 Demo Riders Review!!!!!!

Great Review, never realized that the Nytro was a Ditch Banger only.. The Vector GT seems like a good replacement for my 600sx..

One of the guys on the Brainerd ride posted on the RX1 forum that he brought his GPS and read 116 on the GPS vs 120 on the Speedo. A lot closer than previous years. ;)!
 
Great review guys!!!! Makes me want a Nytro more now then ever. Ill give up top end for something quick to jump and climb with. I think i will wait and see if the bring efi out for it, if not maybe a Super Charger now that would be a hot set up.
 
Great report guys!!!! I do have one question regarding rider forward position. You guys had mentioned it is better than the Rev. Rev riders say there is nothing better than the doo rider forward position. I have driven a Rev and I don't really care for it, but those guys can really move on the trails with less effort. When I read the comment about the new Yamaha position being better than the Rev...I had a huge smile on my face. So, my question is...in your humble opinion, would a Rev rider become a believer in Yamaha's version of forward position???
 
I really think when the squeeze a handfull of the EFI...they will be...The rider forward is really nice for all size riders...the rev is hard on tall riders knees...It would be a hard call...

I spoke to Kevin at Port Yamaha today about putting a 136" extension on the Apex GT and he told me that someone from Yamaha mentioned that this would possibly overload the monoshock Ohlins. However the Attack is a 136" monshock skid just with a KYB shock instead. He mentioned something about the leverage of the longer rails creating an overloaded shock and I'm assuming that this means the Ohlins Monoshock RA is valved much softer than the other monoshock 121" skids. Did you hear anything about this? If it's as simple as revalving the elctronic ohlins shock for more compression dampening I'd think that a reputable shock rebuilder could handle that job right?

I'd have to agree the Rev is a fine machine built for smaller riders. If I owned one I'd put a Boss widetop on it so I wouldn't be putting so much pressure on my knees. I loved the feedback report from you and the other TY members who rode the 06's and I'm really going to do everything I can to get my self on an Apex GT for next season.
 
the new 136 skid is not just an extended skid..it has been designed to work really well with slightly different geometry and idler placement. I was told that you will be able to get the ohlins for the new 136 skid and you are correct, you cannot just extend the skid.
 
REV riding position

I am 6' 3" and have no problems with my knees hurting because of the riding position on my REV. My knees do bump the panels sometimes but I think the knees hurting because being in the forward position is incorrect. I find it more comfortable than riding my 02 viper that I also own.

I am 5' 9" and have been on Revs for long periods of time also. Great ride through the bumps but after an hour or so my knees begin to ache. I hope the Yamaha rider forward is more "sitting" style rider forward than the Rev. Will know next weekend!
 
i like the rtx, was going to rev next year but now maybe the rtx if the wife lets me spend the big $$$.

I might have a chance to ride a Apex GT this spring. Bit worried though, if it really is so sweet what it sounds like, I just might have to make more room for a sixth sled on my backyard... :rockon: But those will cost serious €€€ here. Thay are gettin awfully expencive.

I had a question about the bars that maybe someone that had more time to look might have asked or looked at... can the bars be lowered/moved toward the rider?? I loved how it felt to ride the apex er, but if the bars could be a little closer and just a smidge lower, it would be absolutely perfect for me(short guy). anyone know if they can be tilted towards the rider? maybe articulate at the bottom or something? wish I would have looked closer while I had the chance. thanks guys
