1998 srx 700

Found a few wires rubbed through on the harness that goes under the engine that rubbed through. Repaired those and now it doesent quit but still doesn’t run right. Backfiring and sputtering and gets worse as it warms up. Seems to run the best when it’s cold. Already put new plugs in it. For some reason the temp light keeps flashing 7 times in a row repeatedly

The rubbed wire could have done damage to cdi or mag.

Any way to test the cdi? What is the stator test procedure? What ohms am I supposed to get outve the pickup and stator ?

Seven flash is power valve servo motor. Either a problem with the motor itself or an open or short circuit in the wires that feed it.

If it costs me money I don’t have any. I work on a lot of stuff but haven’t worked on a lot of these sleds so I’m not familiar with them

Could it be the cdi?

Doubt it. But I know if the leads for the battery hook up are mixed up (without a fuse) it will fry the cdi power valve circuit. Ask me how I know.....

Yes I know. But there are leads supplied in the factory harness for battery power which in turn powers the servo motor for adjustment.
