2000 sxR 700 Gargling sound mid range.

Could this simply be an issue with the factory tune being rich in that spot? Because what you describe is something mine has always done and I've owned it since 2000 miles. Very light throttle, around 6500 RPM and it sounds off. Above and below just fine. I figured the pilots were a little bigger than necessary to give some margin, IIRC the timing is fairly aggressive right about there.

Its bone stock but all 3 plugs look wet. When i open it up its fine
 
thanks very much for this thread .I am having the same problem with my venture 600 with 10,000 mi on it and have been trying to get to the bottom of the midrange bog problem. Ill try replacing these nozzles and see what happens next winter

FYI, I used to work at a Yamaha dealership when the 1997 SX 700 came out. They burbled at part throttle when new.
I feel like it was a needle adjustment that was needed. The service dept. would straight jet them on the mains, but didnt take care of the problem.
