I have 99 Yamaha Venture 700. I bought a cobra 1.35 track, believing it would work for my sled without any mods, but I have seen some mix reviews.

I seen some say remove the heat exchanger protectors only? But not the tunnels protector required? Or both needed removed. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

welcome!

i have installed a 1.25" ripsaw into my brothers 02 sx viper and my 01 sx500r (same chassis). yes, you either need to pull the heat exchanger protectors/tunnel protectors or you need to trim the lugs on the track to clear them. i trimmed the track to get the clearance we needed. 1758061560754.png you need to trim where there are paddles above the clips. these are the pliers i used to do it https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai...Kympt6PAxWiCjQIHaGHBBcQ9aACKAB6BAgDECQ&adurl=. you can use a carpet knife to trim as well. to check if you have trimmed enough, you should be able to rotate the track by hand with the rear of the sled off of the ground.

the 3rd, least desirable, way to do it is to install smaller drivers on the drive axle. you do need to re gear as this will slow your sled down and you will have to compensate by gearing it up. this is the most $$$ way to do it.

i prefer the track cut method myself. done it to a few sleds so far.

My 99 Venture 700 does not have any heat exchanger protectors or tunnel protectors. Does not look like it ever had them. I just installed a 1.25 Ripsaw II and there is about 1/2" clearance at the bulkhead and more to the tunnel.
