Ok, got the srx going, finally..... how do I adjust idle on it? its idling and fricken 3900 rpm!!!
 
Follow the throttle cable till you get to a set screw stop plate and adjust the screw. This should be easy compared to what you have dealt with!
 
Follow your throttle cable to your carbs, there is a screw to adjust it that has a flathead screwdriver slot, and flat knurls around the outside of the head, once you see how it works you should be ably to figure it out. MAKE SURE you leave a little bit of free play (~2-3mm) in your throttle cable or TORS will get you.
 
also, do i TIGHTEN the screw or LOOSEN the screw to DROP the rpm at idle?
 
Loosening the screw will close the carbs, causing a lower idle. Make sure you adjust your throttle cable properly after you get the idle right. Use the long hex part of the throttle cable and the lock nut to do this.

screw is as LOOSE as it will go, and the idle still is 3500rpm.

ok, when i had carbs off.... i took the jets out to drain em totally......


the 3rd jet wouldnt come out.. and i stripped the head of it... but it didnt hurt the hole the gas passed through.. so nothing should be wrong...


next conclusion...

Powervavles, perhaps the servo isnt working right?

somebody please please help me before I go trade this in for the sweet 02 renegade 800 at the poo shop
 
i've done that, and the idle goes down.. but as soon as i take the choke off, it idles back up again.
 
you are sucking air, or have the thumb cable to tight. Check the throttle free play first, then check for air leaks. Maxdlx
 
throttle play should be fine, where do i check for the leaks? where the airbox hits the carbs and the carbs hit the (cylinders?)
 
another question.. if thres a kink in the fuel line, can that cause this? can a leaky gas hose cause this (one of the cyls not gettin much gas)
 
I'm with Maxdlx, you have an intake leak somewhere after the carbs causing lean condition. Check at carb boots and at reed vavles at the cylinder. I don't believe the fuel supply is the problem, at idle even a fast idle there is no load on the engine and very little fuel is needed so there should be enough to meet engines needs.
 
Double check the throttle cable same thing happened to my srx when i had my carbs off, all i did was loosen the throttle cable tension and it went down. Start with the little things. Next make sure you have the carbs in the reed boots good by checking around with your fingers. Did you have the reeds out? Probably not a bad idea to check the bolts again. Next thing is take the top shelf of airbox off and do a finger check with those boots as well.
