had mouse infestation airbox and under handle bar cover. cleaned carbs checked reed valves and intake boots verified Tors switches good compression wont rev out 4-4500 max pipe not obstructed no braaaap any ideas
Even with the belt off?

ever seen a clutch explode with belt off?
No I have not. You dont need to WOT rev it over and over with belt off just go slow so that clutch dont slam past 4500.

Older post but I had a 95 VMax 600 that would die around 5000 or so, turned out the high windings in the stator were burned up. A new (used) stator got it going again.
