I've been out of the scene the last 20 years, so forgive my ignorance. Lots of search results to comb through here from the last couple decades, but I'm wondering if there's a definitive choice that has emerged over the years.
Stock SXR 700 with the OE plastic skis from the era and 144 worn out studs. Exclusively aggressive trail riding with some aspirations to do some Ditchbanger National snocross races. Likely alot of center shock preload and pretty lengthy limit straps. Do have quick-adjust control rods. Ideally I'd just put some C&A skis on it and call it a day, but I'd have more into that than I do the entire sled purchase so far.
I've read stock Viper skis are an upgrade, and even more so OE dual-runner tuner skis from later model Yamahas.
But say I just want to get the most out of the stock skis?
- I see a bunch of multiple-carbide runners exist... Berg triples, Woodys Dooly, Stud Boy Shaper/Duece, etc.
- Bergstrom also has their Ski Savers that seemingly effectively adds keel height. Gotta imagine others offers something similar?
- Anything else I'm not aware of?
I'm not expecting there to be a clear winner here but would love to hear thoughts.

the tuner skis from any sr model sled will keep the same height on the front as you have with stock stuff. tuners can push more in softer conditions. my local conditions are too soft for my liking with the tuners on. the set that came on my 16 xtx ended on a 98 sx700 and the guy apparently loves them.
putting rx1/sx viper/apex skis drops the front of the sled about 1/2 " from stock. ran the viper skis on my 01 sx500r. cornered like a mfo in the trails.
lots of ppl like the doolys but the set i had kept jamming up with ice/debris and then sucked for steering. lots of ppl like snow trackers as well. my preferred carbide is stud boy 6" shaper bars (square host stock). i will use the square 6" woodys if the deal is better when i need some. i have used round bar carbides as well but find the square ones tend to make the keel on my ski more agressive and steer better.
i have run stock ski, curve xs, curve mountain and the yamaha mountain ski pre 09. the mtx skis are my go to ski as they pretty much just steer all the time
