How to tighten the steering linkage on first gen Phazer?? (1989)

Linkage seems to have more play than it should. any suggestions?

Kits like this from SPI took out alot of the slop in my oldmans ET410II but that was in the TSS scissor

What normally happens with those is beyond the through collars that the bolts go through there is a brassish bushing the collars ride in that wear out. The big fight comes with the removal of the through bolts and the collars. I thinks the bushings are still available oem and I have a few tricks for removal. Simply adding the shims doesnt usually take out the steering slop due to the worn bushings

I'm fighting with the bushings now. I managed to get the first bottom knuckle off. I'll be soaking the joints in my homebrew penetrating fluid (50/50 acetone and ATF) for a few days then hit them with two MPS torches at the same time before throwing the wrench on. We'll see.
