weight in the tip ??

Hears my question, what happens to low end rpm's when you add.5 grams to the tip? I'm a touch low off the line now and reving alittle high on top where it is now. Didn't bother me much before but just got asked to go to maine this week and I love the top end you can get there but don't want to loose rpm's low. This will all be done without checking the sled before I leave and donot want to worry that my sled is not running at it's best for what I have in it. I have two shims in the primary now and have one sitting in tool box but donot have alittle smaller rivet to put in the heel would the shim help it out alittle.I heard you can put three in but didn't want to coil bind it.I should have skidooboy's set up in it but didn't want to put the$$$ in it because more than likely it will be my sons sled next year. Any help will take worry off of me for the 10 hr trip north.

putting that small amount in the tip shouldn't affect the heel much if at all. Go ahead and throw that last shim in there, it should be alright.

Red what weights are you running now? How low are your rpms out of the hole? & what are they on topend? What helix are you running? Stock rollers?
 
or you could always get a new spring with some more preload, while having the same rate
 
Bushman stock rollers, stock weights, 2.7 in heel 4.5 in tip 53/35 helix. Off the line it will hit 8600 and climb real quick too 9,000. shooting for a straight 8750 but it's not possible with the weights. Right now rev 800ho's no problem but I know this sled has alot more with little money added. Also have slp's pipes on her. I am going to add 5 grams to it but was wondering if it will effect low end rpm's that much? if so I donot have lighter rivets to put in it so should I throw another shim in to help it out on the initial jump off the line? green spring secondary. I apologize yamaholic 22. I'm taking the 4.5's and changing them to a 5 gram rivet. I know it isn't enough but when I get back going to weigh each arm and spot weld alittle weight on tip. I did this work today and added that shim. Three shims ok right? Let me know on those shims because I have time to pull it back out before I go north.

There is a guy close to here who has welded up the 8DN's for more weight in tip on his SRX which runs real well, Could you use a nut & bolt to get the weight you need w/out welding on the weight?
 
Bushman I did read on here somewhere that a guy used a bolt and a nut on the tip and gave the size but not what it totally weighed at the end. Donot know if he had to drill which takes weight out and what he finally ended up with. Bushman are three shims ok! if not will pull one of them out tonight, I heard it was ok but I think to much so my wife tells me. Off the subject alittle, maybe next year I can take a trip your way because it sounds like you guys have a blast when your all together. Skidooboy was nice enough to tell me his setup which I guess runs pretty good. I already bought a new spring for primary and used it with a helix that was given to me. Dont like the finish angle but you never know unless you try. Still like my red spring in secondary but the green seems better in the deeper stuff. I'm running with all makes this trip polaris, skidoo, cats. They are telling me I have a surprise waiting for me this year. I hope its a good sled That I will be running against. They are all good friends that is what makes it fun.
 
Red I cant say for sure if you can use 3 shims with the spring you are running, It has been 3 years since I ran stock Yami clutching - Sorry but I am sure some one on here can help you.

You will need to try the red vers green secondary spring on your sled w/you on it against a test mule to know for sure.... Ski runs a 136" track so things change. Check out SRXMagic, MrSled or MrViper700 & see what they have to say on the shims or secondary spring. Ski has his setup nailed!

Thanx for your help bushman. If I save my pennies this year I will be there with ya next year. It's worth a little travel to have a good time in life.
